What we do Globally?

TYCL International aims to optimize local action with disadvantaged and/or marginalized children and youth and their communities around the globe. The organization prioritizes developing international networks of collaboration, support, and resource mobilization to serve communities in Asia and Africa.

Objectives:
TYCL believes in the power of organizations, institutions and people to cultivate human beings that will work for social justice in their local and global communities. These actions are enacted through the following objectives:

  • To promote positive community development through child and youth-led initiatives across the globe.
  • To promote youth-led, community-driven and -owned programs for indigenous arts, music, culture and local heritages (tangible and intangible).
  • To promote and provide active child-centered and youth-led preparation and response to issues of social and natural disaster, including climate change and environmental sustainability.
  • To build values-based learning spaces (such as community groups or centers, schools, colleges and universities) that give priority to the most vulnerable children and youth and their allies.
  • To build and promote a community-based research, publication and transformation institution/organization.
  • To create linkages with likeminded people and related stakeholders

Collaborations:
TYCL International aims to work in collaboration with other partners internationally to create new relationships where there is exchange of knowledge, experience and vision. This includes working towards:

  • Recognition of existing international power inequities and the complexities of globalization and global interactions
  • beyond boarders;
  • International exchanges, conferences and learning opportunities for children, youth and their communities; and
  • Development of international communications and creations of national and international publications between children, youth, parents, communities, donors, and partners.

Youth Representation:
TYCL also holds consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Through our base in New York City, we are able to send youth to the United Nations headquarters on behalf of the organization to advocate their voice for the empowerment of youth participation around the world.
