TYCL is committed to achieving Zero Youth Suicide, Zero Violence Against Children, and Zero Anti-Environmental Behavior among young people by 2030 in its areas of operation.

Why are these Three Zeros important to TYCL?

TYCL strongly believes that young people can catalyze positive social change more quickly than adult members of society. If we are ever to bring change to our communities, we must invest in young people to shift their behavior for positive social and environmental impact. TYCL’s activities aim to leverage this investment on youth to achieve these Three Zeroes and support the success of the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.

TYCL is committed to addressing the most pressing issues of young people, such as mental health, violence against children, and online crimes. On average, every 40 seconds, one young person commits suicide somewhere in the world. Physical, sexual, and emotional crimes continue to escalate against children, and in the era of technology, it is necessary to create safe and inclusive spaces for young people, not only in physical life but also in the virtual world as well. Moreover, when we care about young people, it is important to care about the planet, Mother Earth and the natural world around them. Our Strategic Plan forward, therefore, is committed to leading young people away from risky situations and behaviors, and to achieving TYCL’s Three Zeros by 2030 in all of our operational areas.

TYCL’s activities support progress towards achieving these Three Zeroes through:

  • Ensuring safety, inclusivity, participation, and sustainability in all programming, administrative, and development processes;
  • Training young people through holistic ecosystem-based leadership programs;
  • Promoting transnationalization of leadership skills, creativity, and innovations for young people to act locally and share globally;
  • Encouraging intergenerational knowledge-sharing, cooperation, and collaboration at all levels;
  • Creating access to new-age technological and media tools to enable youth to be active and modern agents of social change and take action within their communities;
  • Promoting local people’s participation and community-owned approaches for programming and resource mobilization;
  • Respecting and recognizing indigenous knowledge, culture, and development practices in hybrid social change models that combine indigeneity with modern technology; and
  • Addressing issues through scientific and logical approaches with appropriate ethical guidelines

We welcome like-minded organizations, corporations, community partners, academic institutions, and youth to invest their knowledge, resources, and time to achieve these Three Zeroes by 2030 in our operational areas.

Thank You, Nandri! Gracias!
